Drapes Done
The drapes for the Cloud are done! There was some trial and error with the sliders and several - well more than several - sewing machine needles were broken in the first two drape construction with the pesky plastic doo dahs. After carefully examining several different AIrstreams in SIlverton, I discovered that there was another doo dah that looked like it would work better. I ordered plastic G sliders from Vintage Trailer Supply and they DID work better.
The fabric is a long time favorite. My Mom bought 2 vintage curtains from a dealer at Stars many many years ago. They were at Pops cabin as a duvet cover and curtains for one of the bedrooms. She passed them along to me when Pops got its facelift this year. I love the way it looks in the Cloud, makes it feel like my own cozy cabin.
LOVE IT

first set of curtains done!
and those little plastic tabs that go in the rail were a challenge to sew. more than a few machine needles were sacrificed. btw- that is not a valance above the curtains its a small shelf. its just the angle of the photo.
these are lined with blackout fabric . which as i discovered is not black, but rather is white .

In the driveway!
Wow. Brian Morrow, of Brian's Vintage Trailers is a miracle worker. I dropped the Cloud off at his house in October 2011 for restoration. He brought it to me on Feb 27, 2012. From "As found" to beautiful in a just a few months. It looks amazing. I love that if feels like a cozy little cabin inside. Pleased with keeping the original floor plan with a few modern concessions- battery operated water pump, on demand hot water and propane furnace. The fridge is 2 way- electric and propane. I wanted the ability to dry camp or boondock as it is often called. Since i am more of a Forest Service Camper than an RV park camper.
